Posey Lewis Gurley - Family Historian, Obit

June 4, 1922 - April 11, 2017 Posey Gurley, 94, of Memphis, TN was born and raised in Madison County, AL passed away April 11, 2017. Visitation will be Thursday, April 27, 2017 from 10 a.m. – 11 a.m. with funeral service following at 11 a.m. at M. J. Edwards Funeral Chapel. Interment will be in Memphis National Cemetery. Mr. Gurley is survived by two daughters: Fay Gurley Harris of Hephzibah, GA and Kay Gurley of Memphis, TN two grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

Rev. Ernest Tanner, Pastor of Piney Wood Baptist Church, passed away on September 28, 2015.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Ellis and Annie Mae Tanner, and his wife, Cassandra Faye Tanner.  Survivors include his sons, Nicholas R. Tanner and Miles E. Tanner, brother James Rodney Lane, other relatives and friends.  Funeral service will be held at noon Saturday, October 3, 2015, at New Horizon Baptist Church.  Interment - Greenwood Cemetery.

Funeral service for Mrs. Helen Brandon Steger, widower of the late Isidore Steger, mother of Patricia (Winchester TN), Debbie and Lisa Steger (Huntsville AL), will be at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 11, 2015 at Northwest Church of Christ with Brother John Branch officiating. Interment will be Valhalla Memory Gardens. Family visitation will be held on Saturday, January 10, 2015 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Nelms Memorial Funeral Home Chapel. Mrs. Steger will be placed in the church one hour prior to the funeral service.

Cassandra Rucker Stewart Tanner passed away on Thursday, July 3, 2014, in Chattanooga. She was the First Lady of Piney Woods Baptist Church. Survivors include her husband, Rev. Dr. Ernest Tanner; children, Nicholas R. Tanner and Miles E. Tanner; grandmother, Anita Cunningham; siblings, Derrick Stewart, Stanley Rucker Jr., Aldric Pace and Moneka Norwood; other relatives and friends. Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 12, 2014, at New Horizon Baptist Church, located at 2007 East 27th St. with Rev. Dr. Willie Paul officiating. Interment in Greenwood Cemetery.

CLIFFORD NNYOUD STEGER suddenly departed this earthly life on January 11, 2012.  He was born on April 24, 1972 in Honolulu, Hawaaii to Col. Clifford Steger (Ret) and Brenda Rucker Steger.  He has one devoted sister, Kimberly Steger of Brooklyn, NY.  Cliff married his devoted wife Anastasia Pryankivoka on June 10, 2002.  The couple's only child, Alexis Grace Steger was born in Buffalo, NY on December 13, 2005.  Memorial Service held Tuesday, January 17, 2012, 11AM to 1PM at United Methodist Church of Westport and Weston, 49 Weston Road, Westport, CT 06880.
